Writer. Yogi. Teacher. Friend.

Professional writer inspired by spirituality, nature, and inclusivity.

Ohio, the "heart of it all" is Katie's birthplace and where she will always call home. Place and landscapes are particularly important to her writing; she has been shaped by the mountains of the high desert west, the fields of Ohio, and the coastlines of the Great Lakes. Currently she's writing about the national parks and the Midwest.

One of the defining points of Katie's life was a semester abroad in Oxford, England. She returned to Scotland for her MFA and PhD at the University of St Andrews. The experience of sojourning abroad was so pivotal that it formed the basis for her dissertation and much of her writing.

Katie has been practicing yoga since 2004, when she started training for long-distance races and started a PhD. She earned her Yoga Alliance 200 Hour certification in 2013, and her 300 hour certification in 2017, both from Simply Yoga Fort Wayne. She has trained with Kino MacGregor, Bryan Kest, John Salisbury, David Regelin, and Hilaire Lockwood, among others She especially loves Ashtanga and yin yoga as a balance for her running and writing practices.
